Predeceased by his parents James and Margaret O’Regan, Myles is survived by his brother James Regan McCarthy and family of Redondo Beach, California, his special cousins Maureen, Patricia and Elizabeth Nadeau and family of Farmingdale, Connecticut and his Cathedral family of St. Patrick’s Cathedral, NYC.
Myles was separated from his brother after his mother passed away during the depression in 1929. The hardship did not allow his family to stay together. He was raised in the Bronx and was a true New Yorker.
Myles served in the Marines during World War II and began his career in 1942. He was stationed at El Toro Marine Base, on the west coast, where he was in charge and authorized in opening the base. He was then able to remain close with his only brother. One greatest memory he always mentioned was dodging the assignment to get shipped off to Japan. He was on his way in 1945, but they dropped the bomb. He knew he had a Guardian Angel.
Until he could no longer walk, at almost 90 years of age, Myles worked for the Cathedral of Saint Patrick for over 40 years. He had many stories under his belt and loved sharing them while making us laugh.
Myles has experienced more than some of us have in our entire life time. He will be sadly missed by all, but especially Andre, Anthony, Kimberly and Shirley.
