Born on April 14, 1985, in Smithtown, New York, to Hemal and Parul Desai, she grew up in her beloved Poughkeepsie. Her childhood there, marked by tennis matches and saxophone practice, revealed the charismatic, driven, and generous spirit that would define her life, eager to excel yet even more committed to lifting up those around her.
Natasha graduated from Johns Hopkins University and the London School of Economics. She built an international career in healthcare that took her to England, Germany, China, and Japan. A natural organizer and problem solver, she took on professional challenges with energy and drive, including developing new business models to improve care for patients with diabetes. At the center of her work were compassion and a commitment to improving healthcare for ordinary people.
From earliest childhood, Natasha had a talent for friendship, forging connections that endured across years and continents. To her nieces and nephew, she was more than an aunt; she was a joyful presence and a source of warmth and encouragement. In August 2020, she married her husband, Nicholas Jones, under an arc of flowers at their home in Georgetown, Washington, D.C. Their son, Thelonious, was her greatest love. Nothing delighted her more than time spent with him, reading books, playing games, and imagining the wide world she looked forward to him exploring.
She leaves behind a family who loved her deeply and friends whose lives were shaped by her intelligence, loyalty, and generosity of spirit. Her influence endures in the wide circle of family, friends, and colleagues who carry her memory forward.
Natasha is survived by her husband, Nicholas Jones; her son, Thelonious; her mother, Parul Desai; her sister, Samira Shah; her brother-in-law, Pritesh Shah; her nieces, Sarina and Sofiya; and her nephew, Paden Shah.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating blood or making a contribution to the American Red Cross, an organization Natasha cared deeply about.
