I have spent the past 15 years trying to get news (discreetly) about Dr Ghossein, upon learning after calling his house that he was not well. Why? Because I have never met a better doctor. Never, and I don't think I ever will.
I initially went to him close to 18 years ago for treatment as I was told that he was "simply, the very best" and was astonished to discover his empathy (visibly the treatment worked as I am still around). We was truly a man with a huge heart, and we connected easily. Cancer is a disease in which one has emotional ups and downs: just seeing him caused an instant up. He excuded both technical competence and human qualities, not counting his rare sense of humor.
And whenever doctors examine the radiated tissue in my throat, they express amazement at the quality of the job, as Dr Ghossein managed to put in just the right dosage. My voice is intact, something I was told was very, very rare.
I have had Dr Ghossein on my mind for almost two decades, dreaming of conversations with him and will most certainly do so during at least the next two decades.

In 1985 Dr Ghossein treated me for breast cancer. He was so very kind and gentle, as well as reassuring. I once wept in his office. He put his hand on my shoulder and said, "I don't know what the other doctors have told you but I have read your record. You will be fine."  It was the perfect antidote to my sadness. He was very special.
