NICOLE SOPHIA WALTON, 44
Nicole Sophia Walton (“Nikki"), age 44 of New York, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2015. She was born February 26, 1970 in New York, NY. Nicole grew up and lived most of her adult life in the Yorkville section of Manhattan. She attended local catholic schools such as Our Lady of Good Counsel Elementary School and St. Jean Baptiste High School for Girls. Later she earned both her Bachelors of Science degree in Education and Masters of Science degree in Special Education from the City College of New York.
Nicole was a 20-year veteran teacher who spent the majority of her career as a member of the Arthur Tappan Public School 46 school community in West Harlem, NYC.
Nikki had a passion for life and adventurous spirit. She was always open to new experiences. Nicole delighted in the joys of traveling the world. Her favorite passion was cruising because she was able to visit several places at one time and sample different culinary cuisines. In her lifetime Nicole travelled hundreds of thousand miles traveling throughout the United States and Canada as well as international travel to the Caribbean, Central America, Europe and the Middle East.
Nicole was a “big kid” at heart. Her favorite pastimes were playing board and video games and visiting amusement parks with family and friends. However, baking her famous cookies, cakes and pies were both her delight and passion. She took great pleasure in sharing her homemade bake goods with students, family and friends.
Nicole gave and received much love during a life enriched by many friendships. We will miss Nicole’s buoyant spirit, steadfast loyalty, enveloping love and the compassion she showed to others.
Nicole was preceded in death by her beloved mother Sophia and survived by her twin sisters Beth and Blaine, her aunt Shirley Taylor, her cousin Lawrence King who was like an older brother to her, and her dearly loved sister friends for over 30 years Betty Garcia, Simone Jackson and Patricia Garcia-Bural. She also leaves behind her godmother Sylvia Garcia, two godchildren Sylvie and Marco Bural, a host of cousins and friends.
