I hope you see this. I am sorry to see that Norman passed away. I had left you many messages a couple of years ago at work since I somehow lost your cellphone number and I guess you never received them. I would love to see you if you are up to it. Please accept my sincere condolences and if you feel up to it call me at 201-362 4588. May the fond memories that you have of Norman comfort you in theses difficult times.

I remember working at the World Gymnastics Championships in Australia with Norm in 1994.  One afternoon, when we were on our way back to the hotel from the arena, Norm asked me if I could teach him how to drive a car with a stick shift.  He told me that he and Betsy had recently been on vacation and they could only rent a car with a stick, which neither of them knew how to drive. So they solved the problem by having Betsy drive, operating the clutch and the brake while Norm, from the passenger seat, took the gas pedal! After all the things Norm had done for me, I was thrilled to help him, so off we went to a big empty parking lot where I briefly demonstrated how to shift. I gave Norm the wheel, and he picked it up very quickly. When he didn’t pop the clutch once after 20 minutes or so I said, “Come on Norm, take us back to the city!” He exited the parking lot (reluctantly) and made it onto the highway without a problem.  We were euphoric. Here was Norm, driving a stick shift car, unassisted. We were smiling all the way until we saw it - the sign for City Exit. I said,  “No problem Norm.” (secretly wishing for green lights.) He was doing just fine, shifting several times. We had just about reached the hotel when it happened - a red light, in heavy traffic, on a steep hill.  We came to a stop – Norm was certain he was going to roll into that car behind us. I calmly (as Norm had always taught me) pulled the emergency brake up with my left hand until he had engaged the gear, off we went, no problem. We pulled into the hotel lot laughing - it’s a great memory of his spirit that has stayed with me all these years. 
Norm was loved by everyone, everywhere he went. I never heard him say an unkind word about anyone, nor anyone say one about Norm. Late one night when we were editing, I asked him how he was always able to stay so calm and upbeat under all the pressure. Norm looked at me and just said, “You gotta have fun.”  Thanks Norm, for making it so much fun for all of us.

Norman first came into the lives of my brother and I when we were kids, and since then has been a constant source of happiness.  We always looked forward to the annual visits from him and Betsy, and were always happy to hear his stories, jokes, and experience his unique ability to warm up any room he was in.  He will always be remembered through the impact he has made on my life.  

Norm my dearly missed friend.  My name is Wing and I started work at ABC Network in NYC in Taped Maintenance in 1979.  A rookie I was in the industry.  I got to fit in after a couple of years with work and meeting many faces. Norm is a gentleman and I got work with him on a gymnastic coverage event in Moscow.  Covering the gymnastics for about a week the name Goosh surfaced. Goo Shi Gan, not sure of the spelling is an Asian gymnast. That name stuck every time I met up with Norm when we returned home. Up and down the corridors of ABC I hear him shout, Goosh. Norm, a good man and honest. My heart felt sympathy to family and friends.


Norm was pure goodness. A Mensch. A kind, more gentle, decent person you would not find. You will always be in our hearts. May Betsy find comfort in beautiful memories and we thank you for sharing Norman with us.

Norman , a kind and gentle friend, was always a pleasure to work with no matter how long or tedious the job was. He was always smiling and shared his generosity of spirit with everyone. We worked together for forty years and the memories of time spent together are dear to all of those who knew him. Rest in peace, "Cousin."

I feel so fortunate to have work with Normie.  Being the new kid on the the block, he made me feel strong and to hang in there no matter how tough it got. I will always remember his positive outlook and treasure his memory. 

Norm was a personal and professional role model for all that he encountered over an admirable  life and career. He will be missed greatly.

Normie was probably one of the nicest people I’ve had the opportunity to work with  at abc.  So  glad to have the “Memories “.  My thoughts and prayers for Betsy, family and friends.  

Norm was the epitome of love and kindness never heard him say anything bad about anyone  truly a loss for us all my heartfelt condolences to all till we meet again my brother 

Such a beautiful soul. Seeing Norm was always the best part of your  day.  When was he ever not smiling?  My sincere condolences to his family.  He will be forever missed by all of us. RIP Norman. 

One of the most likable and dedicated people I have ever spent time with during my years at ABC. Anytime we worked together,  Normie was a pleasure. I will never forget that smiling  grin, and silly chuckle of his. I will remember him fondly thru the years. Rest In Peace !

I loved my Uncle Norman very much.  He helped take care of my sister and i (we're twins) when we were very little.  He taught me to tie my shoes.  (A very important skill!)  He was always at our important events and always wanted to hear about our lives.  I can't even imagine a world where he is not in it.  He was a hero to me.  I love you Uncle Norman and I am a better person to have had you in my life.  I love you too Betsy and I look forward to visiting you this summer.    

 Norm, we lost a great human. You will be missed. The world , your family and your friends will never forget you. Godspeed  Norm. 🙏

I am truly saddened by the passing of such a great man and friend. He will be loved and cherished in everyone's hearts, especially mine. Rest In Peace Norm, you will be missed.

Sorry to everyone who might read this but Norm was one of the greatest men I have ever met. Many a time he could calm the most tense situation because he knew it wasn't brain surgery. And he was fun though all of it. I am lucky to have known him. RIP Norn. G

Norman was a one of a kind sweetheart, kind, wise, patient and these are not virtues always found in live television. It didn't matter if you were the newest kid on the crew or the oldest hand, he treated everyone with the same good humor and understanding. Rest in peace, good sir. You will be missed.

The definition of a true gentleman...one of the best men to work with. Rest In Peace Norman...heaven is a better place now that you’re there. 

Norm was the epitome of everything that is good and decent. He was a true gentleman and a caring friend  who always had time for you. 
Working with him was always a pleasure. A finer human being never existed. He will be sorely missed. My sympathy and prayers go out to Betsy and the rest of his family. 

Norm or as we affectionately called him “King” was the kindest person - one who truly cared about his friends. Having worked with him for over 40 years, we traveled the world with ABC Sports and no matter where we were, there was someone who knew “The King”.  Everyone loved him and we are all better people for knowing him. Rest In Peace   

Norm was the definition of a mensch.  A good and kind man and a gentleman to work with.  An excellent Director and Associate Director,  Norm was always thorough in his preparation and expert in his work.   I am a better person to have known him.  My condolences to his family and friends.
