I am deeply saddened by the loss of my oldest sister. 
She leaves behind a beloved niece and nephew who will forever carry her love and memory in their hearts. Her kindness and strength will never be forgotten.
I truly appreciate the kind and beautiful words my sister, Olga Lucia, shared with me during our last conversation.  They meant so much during this difficult time. She expressed to me how much she loves me.
I will never forget my sister, Olga Lucia. She will always live in my heart and memories.

I am so saddened to learn of the death of my dear cousin Olga.

Olga was  the youngest of the four cousins each of us born in the first quarter of 1951.  Consuelo was the eldest then Hector, I came third  born on 19 February and Olga arrived in this world just three weeks later on the 2nd of March.
I have such fond memories of Olga in our teenage days before she ever went to the USA. The fun we had when we lived near each other  in Cali.  Our fathers were very strict.   I remember your mother being much younger than my mother and far more liberal so if we wanted to  escape to go dancing when we were in our teens we would tell your mother that I was staying there and that she could tell your father that you were staying with me. My father would have been furious if he found out that we were out night-clubbing till late. Once he nearly did find out. We returned at six in the morning and thought that by going in through the garage we were less likely to be noticed. Then we heard my father coming so we hid in the old wardrobe which was stored in the garage. So old was the wardrobe that the doors did not close properly and we hung inside hardly daring to breathe in case he found us.
Many years passed as I went to live in England and you to the USA, but thanks to cousin Hector we got together  again in Cali.
So  I got to know you again just about 7 years ago and met  your husband and you met my husband David who feels a particular link with John as neither of them speak much Spanish!
Thank you for the fun of 60 odd years ago.
Your sister Myriam has been very conscientious in keeping in touch for which I am truly grateful.

Dear John, Hanna, and Jake. 

Your lovely Olga has been a bright spirit for so many of us for so long. We all grew up together in our way.  I remember first meeting Olga at the beach in the first Zirinsky Southampton house. Olga had determined to learn to ride a bicycle that weekend and she would not be put off.  It was a mark of the determination which was so strong in Olga’s character. Olga’s determination was most evident in her ability to connect: always so personal, so curious, and always, always so kind.  I once told Olga about a lonely friend – before I had finished my talk, Olga had begun working out a match including every single person--available or not, surrounding us that afternoon—it was exactly the sort of kindness that everyone knew was Olga’s gift…

I made this fruit arrangement for Olga’s Mother Day. We all gathered at her apartment and have  a great and blessed time with Olga.

She felt happy seeing all of us giving her company in such special day. We made her felt comfortable. I felt satisfied because I saw she like us being together❤️✝️

We will remember Olga, her beautiful smile and her love for Chichester and her family.  We are sorry to hear of her passing and extend our deepest condolences.

My dear sister Olga, I shared a lot of good times with Olga. I always wanted her to have fruits and soups. At the end of her lifetime she was not eating that much. I will always remember her and the good memories I had with her. She helped my father and Yolanda and Henry when they came to the states.
I feel satisfied that I was able to help, my sister, Olga. Also I feel comfortable that she now is resting and she doesn’t have pain anymore. She is now in the presence of the Lord. She is with my mother and father. Olga was very much loved by us.✝️❤️

This picture was taken on Mother’s day May 11, 2025. I made a fruit arrangement and a kale salad with radicchio, carrots, radishes, red onions and tomatoes. We had a nice time ✝️❤️

There she met John, and fulfilled her dream of starting a family and having children.

But the Olga In her golden years, had  other questions and other needs, at this point she traveled the word and she had it all. 

At this point she mastered some skills like how to connect with people. If there was another person, Olga would strike up a conversation. She didn’t care if it was raining, snowing, hot, or dark—she would talk. She loved a good debate and could carry an argument until she got her point across. John was her best sparring partner; they could go back and forth for hours, days, months in an argument…. 

Her deepest conversations, in these past years, were with God. Over time, she learned to hear God’s voice and developed a profound  desire to follow it. She preached wherever she could, handed out cards inviting people to church. She became a true disciple of Jesus.

That desire for holiness gave her the strength to face her final battle. Her fight against cancer was tough—six years of waking up every morning, seeing herself transformed. A different woman physically, but greater spiritually. She remained faithful to her principles.

Olga the caterpillar became a butterfly Last Friday night, after all her loved ones had said goodbye, she found the courage to take her last breath and fly for a new life. An eternal life—without pain, without suffering—alongside those she loved….. surely waiting for us.

In Memory of Olga Lucía Campuzano

I met Olga Lucía Campuzano the day we buried her mother, back in 1991. We only really saw each other—she was the sister who lived in the States, and I was a college student with leftist ideas. We weren't even introduced; it was just a brief encounter on a very sad day, then we continued with our lives.

Years later We had a couple of conversations and started to get to know each other each other, we found out we Share many things in common, a good cook, taking pictures, a swim in the creek, see the sunset by the beach, a good book reading. Also, we have different opinions and we grow a friendship over the years.

 Olga could talk about anything and every thing.  It was something special in learning English, it was a passion for her, to the point that she became a teacher and never stopped being one. I remember walking around Chichester, and she would make the most of the moment, giving me English lessons: “Repeat after me—I'm looking for a job. Do you have any openings?” Don’t say muffin say muffin! I like it

I could see Olga change thru the years and  transform like a butterfly.

The middle-aged Olga I first met,  was  an ambitious and energetic woman, striving to rise in New York’s social circles. She was a true New Yorker—a busy mother, wife, translator. She was Always in motion, always onto the next project, next to John they were to conquering the world.

Olga shared  with us many of her experiences in her earlier years, How different she was from the 20-year-old Olga, a girl full of dreams. The other night, she toll us in the hospital that at 14 she dream learning English. Her first job in Cali was selling English courses on vinyl records, door to door, she said she would play the discs again and again after work. At 18, she left for the United States, determined to learn English.  In New York, she did all kinds of jobs until she finally landed a career as a simultaneous interpreter in the courts.

To The Zirinsky Family:

My heart goes out to you in this sad time. Olga was an inspiration to me; she loved the Lord God with everything she had, and was not ashamed to talk about Him. I am grieved at her passing, but I know that she is eternally with God. I am comforted knowing that she is no longer suffering. May HaShem bless you through Adonai Yeshua in your comings and your goings!

My dear sister-in-law Olga, a vital force in the family structure by her commitment to sharing and an importance she held for the sense of togetherness.
  Somewhere in time about thirty five years ago, I had the acquaintance to meet Olga. She and her sister, Miriam, were proud recent owners of their co-op apartment in Rego Park, Queens. Olga, a court interpreter for the State of New York, and Miriam, dedicated to helping her sister cope with the turmoil of starting a life in this country foreign to them, were also embroiled in the sadness of the late stage illness of their beloved mother.
  Marriage plans of Miriam and I helped to guide Olga on a trajectory leading to the decades that followed establishing her presence in the Zirinsky family and creating her and John’s own family with Hanna and then Jacob.
  Olga was industrious over the decades, actively involved in every aspect of creating, designing and constructing numerous residential homes while also enjoying life to the fullest with memorable travels.
  I ponder how would Olga live later years if not struck with her six year battle of cancer, and I see an older vivacious person still building not only projects but numerous relationships, adventures and memories.
  But lest not we fret, by example of Olga’s strong faith, we can derive comfort knowing that Olga felt assured her place in eternity is wonderous.

We've lost a kind, independent, determined woman. Her deep faith comforted her, and even while fighting for her life, Olga sought to comfort others by sharing that faith. Her generosity of spirit and wry humor endure in Jacob, Hanna, John, and in our collective memories of her. We celebrate her life force, even as we mourn the void. She will be missed by many.

Olga Zirinsky was a wonderful caring woman, deeply rooted in faith with a strong and clear value system, always placing family first, constantly serving kindness and warmth to family and friends, generous with people and with her time. Olga was a friend for decades and we, like so many, appreciated her wisdom and knowledge. She was always concerned about the well being of others, asking questions and placing their needs at the forefront of her thinking and prayers. Olga was bright star, shining upon the world, constantly spreading kindness and love in her thoughtful and gentle way. Her sense of humor could be dry and intellectual or fun witted, with never a dull moment. The conversation was always interesting and often offered a perspective from Olga not previously considered by others prior to the discussion. Olga had incredible strength of character, a deep understanding of the meaning of words like loyalty and love, and was constantly spreading good will. The Celebration of Life that occurred a few years ago at the ranch in Stuart Florida will be remembered always, as very warm and special, with music, dancing, and an opportunity to enjoy life while possible. Olga was a fighter, putting up an incredible resistance to her illness because she cherished and believed in life. An outstanding mother to Hanna and Jacob, and a loving wife to John. I’ll always treasure how my Tía Olguita used to call me “the girl with the dark hair,” just like in Number the Stars, the book we read together when I was a little girl. That simple nickname made me feel truly seen and loved by her.

She was a woman full of strength—determined, motivated, and deeply committed to her family, her faith, and her community. Her faith was steady and powerful.

Thank you, Tía Olguita, for always believing in me—for teaching me about God’s deep and unwavering love, and for always covering me in your prayers. She took me in when I was young girl and loved me like her very own daughter. She always reminded me how much I reminded her of my grandma, her mother, whom I was so beautifully named after. The memories we shared are some of my most cherished childhood memories. I feel so blessed to have shared those days with Jacob and Hanna, running through the lush, beautiful landscapes of Chichester, cherishing the simple moments and being so present with nature.

Her strength—the kind passed down from her mamá, my Abuela Miriam, and all the powerful Colombian women who came before us—runs through me now. I see it in myself more because I saw it in her. I will carry that strength forward, with gratitude and love, always in her honor.

My Tia Olga was an amazing person, her devotion to her kids, my cousins, was admirable and to those around her.
Headfast and strong, what a wonderful woman she was.
I am deeply saddened by her absence and my condolences to her family.

We are saddened by the passing of Olga. She was a woman of great spirit, great intellect and great insight. Olga was a woman of deep faith, it guided her life and how she lived her life every day. She did not like discord - when she saw it, she often tried to intervene. Olga and I were in regular touch for the more than 30 years that I had the privilege to know her. Olga sought to bring out the best in everyone who were fortunate enough to be a part of her life, to say that Olga had a forceful personality is an understatement. Forceful but not overbearing. Olga was filled with love and respect. I can say that there was not a mean spirited bone is her body. Her long battle fighting her cancer was tackled with Olga’s well known intensity and never giving up. She was on top of her treatment, a full participant in every aspect of her treatment - just as she was in every aspect of her family and our family and her friends. I remember with great affection visiting MSKCC after she was diagnosed about 6 years ago, sitting with her family - all devoted to her well-being. The most enthusiastic person sitting there was Olga, singing and dancing and clapping, in a large community room to the music (including some of her requests). Her voice is silent but her enthusiasm for life and her family and her children continues. I will remember her phone calls, texts and emails, sometime with just a biblical text or her thoughts of the day. I looked forward to them.  Godspeed Olga, we love you and were enriched by your presence and dedication to our family and to all who knew you. May you rest in peace and may your memory be a blessing.

Olga was a model of persistence and strong faith. She was deeply anchored in Messiah. Jesus. Olga loved her family deeply and was committed to pray relentlessly for each one she knew and pursued restoration and healing in relationships. She loved greatly gathering of family and friends around the table, she loved young people and their company always gave her an extra spark in her spirit. I don’t know anyone who loves life more than she did .Her favourite saying was “seize it” each time someone was going to do something meaningful.
She always call me jokingly her “European Maid” because she loved how I folded my laundry 
And I would call her “my refugee” Because she never adopted the consumer mentality of this age. She was true to herself and her values ,she loved the things that she called the “old world “she loved to make a good deal and was always looking for bargain. We both enjoy farmers market, cooking together community of prayer and nature walk. I will miss her terribly each time, I will engage in one of those without.her . I am thankful that I had the privilege of walking those difficult years by her side,
Olga it’s only a few more years that separates us , then joy forever in the Presence of our Loving Creator.
