Patricia Besner

Patricia Besner Styles of New York, NY, died on December 19, 2019. Born in Brooklyn, NY on November 15, 19xx (she would tell you the year is none of your business).She was the daughter of Fred Besner and Kate (Shyer) Besner. Patricia graduated from Erasmus High School and attended NYU and University of Miami, where she received a degree in education. While working as a school teacher in 1960, Patricia met and married her soulmate, Irwin Styles. They were married until Irwin’s death in 2004.Together they started All Language Services (ALS), a translation company, which proved to be one of the largest and most successful in the United States. Patricia was recognized as a pioneer woman executive and was president of ALS for over 50 years The respect she received from clients, foreign dignitaries at the United Nations and employees was legendary.

A resident of Midtown in New York City, Patricia was deeply passionate about education, travel, meeting interesting people and experiences. She took college classes well into her late 80’s and enjoyed interacting with her professors and much younger peers. Her greatest passions, though, were her family. She was very generous with her children and grandchildren and other family members. Patricia is survived by her sons, Brent, Mark (Sheri Brickman) and Dean. Her grandchildren are Ilana, Henry and Zachary. Patricia is also survived by her brother, Stanley, and his wife Joanne.

Inquisitive, well read and a quintessential New Yorker, she collected friends with her wit, humor, directness and generosity. Her positive attitude and ability to inspire made her personality loom large wherever she went. Few who met Patricia ever forgot her zest for life. She will be missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Patricia’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer Association or the American Cancer Society. Service will be held at Mount Moriah in Fairview, NJ on Monday, December 23rd at 11am. Shiva will be held at Pat’s residence on Monday, December 23 from 4-9pm.
