Patricia Yee died peacefully at home in New York City on Saturday, August 14, 2021. Among the many things we will remember and miss about Patricia are her joy of living, friendly smile and easy conversation, her fearlessness, quick wit, informed opinions, and generous heart.
Patricia loved life and engaged with friends and family at home, in museums, at the theater, and for ‘tea’ everywhere she lived or traveled. In Manhattan, she delighted in gathering friends for group meals, particularly at her favorite dim sum restaurant. She also loved traveling and working abroad. Patricia was the consummate cross-country and international traveler.
Born in Minneapolis and raised in Los Angeles, Patricia moved ‘East’ in her twenties to live and work in Boston, Manhattan, Washington DC, and Europe, mostly London. Over most of her career, Patricia was a financial professional. She worked for Merrill Lynch, Bank of Boston, and JPMorgan Chase. She also worked for Harvard Business School and Booz Allen, with shorter assignments in non-profits, healthcare, and the federal government. Patricia enjoyed volunteer work and served several times as a Member of the Board in her residential coop association.
Patricia loved learning and was good at it, in school and on the job. She completed an MBA at Columbia Business School, an MA in Education at UC Berkeley, and earned a bachelor’s degree at UCLA, graduating Phi Beta Kappa, Senior Class Vice President, and Outstanding Senior.
Patricia is survived by her family in California that includes brothers Martin Yee (Teri), John Yee (Bette), and niece Karen Yee Craighead (Trevor). She is also survived by cousins in the New York area, Suzanne and Deborah Lim in Manhattan, and Janet Lim Simons (Joe) in Connecticut. Patricia is predeceased by her parents, Wing G. and Lillian Lai Yee, and her Aunt Constance Lai Lim (Capt. Poon Lim, MD). Patricia is also survived by friends throughout the United States and around the globe.
A memorial service has not been planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, to the Metropolitan Museum of Art or MOMA in New York, or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Acknowledgments may be sent to Martin Yee care of the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel, 1076 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10028.
