Dr. Paul G. Perry, 80, of Manhattan, passed away on August 18, 2022, at Lenox Hill Hospital, surrounded by family. Born August 7, 1942, in Princeton, NJ, he attended Princeton High School and Rutgers University. Dr. Perry followed his maternal grandfather in the pursuit of medicine. After graduating Georgetown Medical School in 1968, he interned in Cambridge, MA, and then worked in Los Angeles and San Francisco for a brief period. Dr. Perry completed his adult and child psychiatric residency at NYU Bellevue. In the later years of his career, he split his time serving patients at Lenox Hill Hospital and Manhattan State Psychiatric Center. He had a unique ability of making everyone feel loved and heard. In retirement, he continued fielding calls from doctors, former patients, and their family.
Dr. Perry longed to live in Manhattan since childhood. He would often say, “Times Square is the center of the universe.” Paul is survived by his wife Anna of over 35 years, stepson and daughter-in-law Joseph and Nicole Rivera, daughter and son-in-law Lauren and Michael McVicker, son Sean Perry, daughter Sabrina Perry and grandchildren Chyan and Joseph Rivera and Hudson McVicker. Also, surviving are his sister Alice Strong and his brother and sister-in-law Mark and Mary Lou Perry. Visitation and service will be at Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home, 1076 Madison Avenue, on Monday, August 29th, from 4-8 pm. Live streaming will also be available. He will join his parents, Ruth and Paul K. Perry, his sister, Ruthmarie Thomas, and son, James Edwards Perry, to rest at Princeton Cemetery in a private burial.
