Born in 1944 to Otto and Susan K. Deri, he was predeceased by his brother, John. Peter earned a B.A. at the University of Vermont, an M.A. at the New School, received a PhD from the NYU School Psychology program and a certificate in psycho- analysis from the NYU Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Lisa Kaufman, children Christopher Deri (Erinn) and Sarah Deri Oshiro (Theo), granddaughters Kate, Ryan, and Grace Deri and Paz and Ines Oshiro, stepdaughters Emily and Kathryn Isaac, and many cherished friends and grateful patients. He loved his life and spent much of it caring for others.
