On January 20, 2026, Rebecca Jean Senior passed away at the age of sixty-three at Brookdale Hospital in New York City due to post cancer complications. Born on February 3, 1962, in St. Louis, Missouri, she was the second oldest of four children, alongside her siblings Jocelyn, Devra, and David.
Rebecca graduated from Clayton High School in 1980 and went on to Bates College, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Art. Deeply inspired by the work of her great-uncle, Max Weber, she immersed herself in her studies, including a formative semester at the University of California, Santa Barbara during her junior year. She continued her artistic journey at Columbia University, earning her MFA in Painting, excelling in oil painting, with her work exhibited in a show at the National Academy of Design, where she was approached for commissions.
Rebecca later brought her keen eye and deep love of art to the gallery world, working first with David Findlay and then at Artioli Findlay Galleries. Over nearly forty years, she became a respected specialist in French art, admired for her knowledge, passion, and genuine appreciation for artists and collectors alike. That same passion extended beyond her professional life, as she found equal joy in experiencing art alongside her family, especially during countless visits to the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Above all, Rebecca will be remembered not only for her artistic achievements but for the generous heart she shared so freely. She brought warmth, creativity, and joy into every space she entered, and her artsy, bubbly spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She is survived by her devoted husband, David, and her beloved son, Joshua, who are profoundly grateful for the many memories they shared with her.
