I just found out about father Pete when googling Ryan mcfaddens saloon
The article said he gave out ashes at the bar
I've spent alot of time at his parishes holy cross and saint Monica's
He sounded like a wonderful priest 
He must be with Jesus Christ and all your loved ones
You will be with him again in paradise heaven

One in a million.  And what a character! He is still missed.  We always felt he was a part of our Holy Cross family and as far as I'm concerned, he still is.  He loved our New York, and NY loved him.
  He was a talented, smart, compassionate, great gift to us.

I shall always be grateful to Fr Peter for his loving care and guidance during our time of grief. He was just the angel we needed here on earth. May God now welcome him home and bless him for all he has done for those on earth. RIP you will be missed.

Fr. Peter only knew me by sight, not by name. He had a profound impact on my life, and didn't have any idea that he had. I think that's the way it's supposed to work. Rest dear friend, you were part of our family since my brother Fr. Fintan Hanley, and you became fast friends and classmates in the Seminary.  When Fintan passed away, you stepped in and ministered and comforted, but most of all brought humor to us.  You married my children and buried my husband.  Always there for so many.  Rest in Peace. So many fond memories of Father Pete during his years at The Church of St. Vito in Mamaroneck, NY, where he was much loved by all. A compassionate man with a heart full of love, a grand sense of humor and most pragmatic. I thought of him often, and loved reading the NYTimes article "Last call for "the Saloon Priest" when published in 2013. I am blessed to have known him.

My deepest condolences to the Colapietro family.  Fr. Peter was an angel on earth doing God's work in so many ways.  He will be missed and remembered by many.  I count myself lucky to have called him a friend and hope he remains our angel now in heaven.

Father Peter, thank you so much for being such a wonderful priest and person. I am so blessed to have known you and to have you Marry me and my husband Keith in June of 2016.  You made our day and our lives so very special. We miss you so much but know you will always be watching ovet us and keeping us safe. "May heaven rest you now."

Thank you for being not only an amazing priest but an amazing person! You have been and always will be such an inspiration to me and my family. You were there for us through our good and bad times. Fr Pete was the most approachable Priest (or person) I ever met.  His ability to relate to the anyone, no matter their status, along with his incredibly generous nature made him a giant of a man.  It was my privilege to know him.  God bless Fr Pete.

Father Pete was the Chaplain of the New York Restaurant Owners in the 1980'a and would always attend their golf outing held at the Pelham Country Club in Pelham, New York. He always had fabulous stories to tell and knew everyone. He was loved by all. Requiescat in pace!
