IN THE CARE OF
Chas. Peter Nagel Funeral Directors
Robert “Bob” Grassi passed away peacefully at home on March 17, 2023, surrounded by his adoring family. He was beloved, respected and admired by friends, family, colleagues and all who knew him for his warmth, compassion, integrity and generosity. He was bigger than life with an incredible lust for living, always first with a warm affectionate greeting and last to leave a party.
Bob was born on “The Hill” in St. Louis, Missouri, the oldest child of the late Mary and Michael Grassi. He graduated from St. Louis University, then proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for two years. In 1980 he joined his wife Dana at HBO and, as he told everyone, had a career that dreams are made of. His mantra, followed by many who knew him, was PMA (Positive Mental Attitude). He retired from HBO in 2002 as Executive VP of Affiliate Sales.
Bob is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dana Magee Grassi, his three children, Michael and wife Pam, Maria and Joe, and the mother of his children Jeanette Grassi. He is also survived by five adored grandchildren, three great grandchildren as well as two loving sisters, Marcy Knibb and Marian Forney and their families.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a scholarship fund Bob set up at St. Louis University High at: www.sluh.org/giving/
Please specify: Mary and Michael Grassi Scholarship Fund.
A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
He will be missed by all.
