

Mrs. Marlowe lived her entire life in New York City. Born Rosemary Macellaro on January 26, 1935, she was the daughter of Judy Savi and her stepfather Max Sherr.
After her training at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, she took leading roles at regional playhouses including playing Blanche DuBois in "A Streetcar Named Desire" and Billie Dawn in "Born Yesterday".
She appeared on Broadway in "Catch Me if You Can", while her Off Broadway credits included "Orphée" and "Antigone."
It was Norman Mailer's "The Deer Park" that was her turning point professionally and personally, as she secured the role of Elena Esposito, a dancer. The cast included Rip Torn, Marsha Mason, and veteran actor Hugh Marlowe, whom she married in 1968.
Hugh Marlowe appeared in some of mid-century Hollywood’s notable films including “Twelve O'clock High”, where he appeared as co-leading male with Gregory Peck, "All About Eve" and "The Day the Earth Stood Still.”. In 1969, he began his role as Jim Matthews on NBC’s “Another World".
After her son was born, Mrs. Hugh Marlowe dedicated herself to her family and her building.
She is survived by her son, HM II; two granddaughters, Zarra and Ronen; her brother, Charles J. Macellaro (Joan). She was predeceased by her husband, as well as her first husband, Michael Murtagh.
