Ruthe Shatz

Ruthe Kanin Shatz passed away peacefully at home in Raleigh, North Carolina, surrounded by her loving family. She was 88. Ruthe was the daughter of Martin J. and Celia Kanin, and the beloved wife of David Shatz. She is survived by her older sister Judy; children Michael and Lisa, Dan and Angela, Peter and Michelle, and Matt and Lisa; nine grandchildren, three grandsons-in-law, and four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and countless cousins.

Ruthe was devoted to her family and friends. She was an active and well-loved member of each of the communities in which she lived. She was involved in charitable endeavors, including the March of Dimes and the Living Desert in Palm Desert, California, where she and David enjoyed their retirement. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her.

For those wanting to make a charitable donation in Ruthe’s name the March of Dimes or The Living Desert would be preferred choices.

A funeral service will be held on January 6, 2025, starting at 10:30 am.
