

Sandy (Sylvia) Long passed away on December 4th, 2025 at 31 years old. She was born on December 20th,1993 in Philadelphia, PA and is survived by her parents Grant Long and Ying Deng, her siblings Kelly and Willy, her grandparents Xingyun Long and Qisi Lui, and her beloved cat Juniper. Originally starting off her career in architecture after graduating from Pratt Institute in 2016, Sylvia changed her career path to pursue social work. She attended Columbia University, graduating in 2021 and worked at Child Mind Institute until 2024. She then pursued a career in psychotherapy and was working towards her clinical license.
Outside of her career, Sylvia was very active in Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and canvassed multiple times during this past mayoral election. She was passionate about many clubs and hobbies such as escape rooms, board games, puzzles, biking, hiking, philosophy, music, skating, rock climbing, and museums. She absolutely loved dancing and attending Emo Nights and punk rock/grunge shows. She was very creative and often wrote her own poetry and songs. Sylvia was an avid world traveler, both solo and with friends, with notable trips to Switzerland, Italy, China, Iceland, California, Florida and Texas.
There are no words to capture this loss. We will miss her enthusiastic laughs, her dorky jokes, her kindness and empathy, her warmth and intelligence, her keen insights, and most of all her presence in our lives. We are grateful for all the time she has given us; however short it was.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Frank E. Campbell - The Funeral Chapel, in The Presidential Library, located at 1076 Madison Ave, New York, New York, 10028. The service is scheduled for December 20, 2025, starting at 12:00 pm.
