A Connecticut native — raised by her parents Sheila R. Shayon, Sr. and Robert Lewis Shayon, and her grandmother Leah Frances Russell Myer — turned true New Yorker, as well as a lifelong Christian Scientist, her walk through this world took many paths.
After brief stints as an NBC page (where she enjoyed giving tours in French) and as an aspiring actor and playwright at Circle In The Square, Sheila became an Emmy award winning producer at HBO; creative director at Time Warner Cable; producer at Wisdom Media; freelance writer; and president and co-founder of Third Eye Media and Color Spa. She was a born creative, writer of poetry, seeker of truth, who dedicated the latter part of her career to yoking art with spirituality.
And while she was a whip-smart woman in business — a graduate of The Baldwin School, Bryn Mawr, PA and the University of Pennsylvania — her through line was love, a gift she bestowed on those she touched, a light that will always shine bright in our hearts, especially on beach strolls, country walks, and sails on the Sound.
Funeral preparations were handled by Frank E. Campbell - The Funeral Chapel, and a private celebration of Sheila’s life will occur by the water, her happiest place.
Her daughter, Leah R. Novak, asks that in lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice in Sheila’s name to honor her generous spirit.
