
She was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on December 31, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Walter Aluotto and Elizabeth(Brown) Aluotto. Shirley graduated early from The Academy of the Holy Angels High School at the age of 16. Upon graduation from Fordham University she became the youngest teacher in the New Jersey school system. Shirley had many professional accomplishments in the field of education, but if asked she would tell you her greatest accomplishment was her five daughters.
In 1957, she was married to Dr. Russell Patrick King and lived in Japan during his service in the United States Air Force. Shirley raised her daughters in Woodbridge, Connecticut and retired in Easthampton, New York where she was always happiest enjoying summers surrounded by her family. She will be missed by her daughters, Elizabeth King and her husband Paul Farrell of New York City and Wilton, Connecticut; Patricia King and her husband David Hansen of San Francisco; Megan King Symington and her husband Randolph Symington of Chicago; Michaela King Roth and her husband David Roth of New York City and Melissa King and her husband David Hornblower of New York City. She will be especially missed by her granddaughters, Elizabeth Farrell and Rachel Roth.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 11 o'clock at the Church of Saint Ignatius Loyola, 980 Park Avenue New York City. Burial will be private on Wednesday September 30, 2015 at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, New Jersey.
