As a consulting physician who shared many patients with him so loved his often brief but incredibly beautiful progress notes that told you every pertinent fact about the patient that you needed to know and not one extraneous word.  He and I I am sure would have detested the EMR.

Just discovered Dr Gutstein’s obituary says nice I live in Florida. He was my primary care physician from 1986 to just before COVID. I followed Sid in and out of MKMG, to remote outposts and ultimately to White Although hardly the specimen of fitness, under Sid’s care I have had zero major illnesses, indeed only one night in a hospital to remove a benign thyroid tumor. My experience is best summed up by the comments of Mass General doctors: “ Your doctor is a terrific diagnostician to have picked this up.”

More importantly Sid was a great friend. My visits were one part medical and two parts “what’s on Broadway” or politics or NYC happenings.  I’ve been missing him since his retirement. 

A kind and caring physician who spent time with his patients and never rushed them out of his office. He treated the whole individual went in depth to their lives and therefore their health and concerns. He was my internist for well over 25 years,, the best of the best. May our Dear Lord hold him in his arms as he rests in eternal peace.

I remember Sid so well.  His medical notes were among the best, far better than the current computer ones.  Coherent, and straight to the point.  All  the information you needed to do the job of caring for that particular patient.  In I unretired I would wish Sid back as a colleague!

I sadly just learned of Dr. Gutstein’s passing. He was my internist for many years & also treated my wife, her mother & grandmother. He was a kind, gentle & compassionate man.
since he retired, I called him a few times, however, I always called him on his birthday, which happens to be today. The world is a sader & less healthy place without him. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Dr. Gutstein  was one of the most nicest, sweetest human being I've ever met. a kind humble soul.  I'm gonna miss the countless conversations about history with Dr. Gutstein.  my condolences and prayers  to the family.  he will be missed. 

Sid was a fine compassionate physician.  Worked with him for years.  A moral ethical colleague.  We could use more like him.  A clear thinker medically.  Best to his family and loved ones!
