The VNSNY Hospice & Palliative Care Lower East Side Team morns the loss of Stanley Wittelshoefer.

We were honored to have helped care for/support Stanley in his final months, and offer condolences to his niece, Lisa Solomon, and all those who were touched by this amazing man.

May his memory always be for a blessing.

Stanley attended my Grandmother’s 75 th birthday party (I believe) and bought her a beautiful Chanel handbag …you know the one I mean…. Quilted with chain straps. My grandmother adored that bag and carried it for  the rest of her life!   My grandmother was the mom of Henry Colman and Muriel Parke, great friends to Stanley. . 

Am Nadine Bowland I work for Stanley for a short period, but I can say God bless that man and to all his families and friends he was a very good man always telling you thanks he welcome you with love ❤ he makes you laugh with his words I was so amazed when I met him he was very independent a man of his age could do everything  may his soul rest in peace he was a good man. 

Every time my family and I travelled from Australia to New York to visit, Uncle Stanley would enthusiastically take us on walks around his neighbourhood where we would end up at Washington Square, followed by lunch at Knickerbockers. He always showed a keen interest in my family, often asking on the phone what activities the children were pursuing, even asking after their animals. We will always remember Stanley as a kind and gracious uncle who looked forward to our visits and phone calls. It's hard to comprehend that he is no longer with us.

Here’s to Stanley Wittelshoefer, a lifelong friend that I met when I was 1 day old. Stanley was my father’s best friend for 88 years! My dad was Henry Colman and they met at age 10. Stan was 7 months older than Hank and my dad never let him forget it. They were besties through school, college, in business, and my dad was his CPA and tax accountant until my dad passed at age 98. They went through happy occasions, sad occasions, and remained devoted friends for life.  He was kind and generous and always gave beautiful presents to my family.  When my dad died, Stanley said “A part of me has died too.” Stanley was my only connection I had to my dad. Now that he’s gone, I’m hoping for Stan and Hank to be together again sharing baseball cards, playing hardball on the heavenly diamond, and still arguing who’s better; the Yankees or the Giants.
