Stuart L Witt of New York City, died on December 6, of complications from Parkinson’s disease. He was 84 years old. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Stuart was the son of Ira and Evelyn (Englander) Witt. He was a graduate of Indiana University and James Madison H.S. where he was proud to have played baseball and pitched against Sandy Koufax. Stuart served as a communications officer in an infantry battalion of the USMC from 1958 to 1961. He was stationed in Okinawa. After earning his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School, he worked as an entertainment lawyer and for CBS news in London for 10 years. In 1979, he joined NS Bienstock as a talent agent for broadcast journalists where he worked until his retirement in 2004. Stuart cared deeply and fought hard for his clients, many of whom became close friends. An animal rights advocate, Stuart was a vegetarian for 35 years. He was also a dedicated runner and ran 14 marathons in New York, Boston and London. Stuart is survived by his wife Terry Benes, his daughter Jennifer Witt Matorin, his son-in-law Andrew Matorin and his granddaughter Marley. Donations in his memory may be made to PETA or the ASPCA.
