

Dr. Ted "Tuviah" Freilich, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and cherished member of the Jewish community, passed away on May 21, 2026, in New York City at the age of 89, just two weeks shy of his milestone birthday. His dedication to his patients and love for medicine kept him seeing patients to the end.
Born on June 14, 1936, in New York City, Ted demonstrated an early passion for learning and excellence. He graduated from the prestigious Bronx High School of Science before pursuing higher education at Cornell Ag School and Albert Einstein Medical School. His academic achievements laid the foundation for a life dedicated to knowledge, service, and exploration.
Ted's life was marked by his deep commitment to his heritage and values. During the Yom Kippur War, he served as a physician in the Israeli army, embodying his devotion to the Jewish people and their enduring resilience. This chapter of his life reflected his unwavering dedication to causes greater than himself.
A man of many passions, he embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity. He loved traveling the world, immersing himself in diverse cultures while learning new languages along the way. His appreciation for good food was matched only by his love for family gatherings where stories were shared and bonds strengthened. Above all else, he treasured his family who brought him immense joy and pride. The recent arrival of a newborn great-grandchild added another layer of happiness to his legacy.
Ted's warmth and zest for life left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His memory will be cherished by those fortunate enough to have shared in his journey.
