To My Cousin Marie,
Some people will say you are in a better place.  Some will say time will heal. Neither time nor reason will change the many memories we shared. 
No longer will there be days when we talked and planned an escape route out of Isabella and the train ride to High Point, North Carolina. No longer will we discuss the great times we had when you visited North Carolina, life issues, health issues, our husbands and your journeys around the world.
Thank you for your love, memories, and support.  Thank you for the love and support you had for Jaylen. I will miss you more than anyone will know. You will always be in my heart.  At night when I look at the stars, I know there is a special star that is shining down on me.
Many thanks to Father Tighe and the staff at Isabella Home for the love and care they gave you.
I will not say goodbye but goodnight until we meet again.

My heart is truly broken and saddened by the loss of my dear cousin, Marie (our fathers were brothers). She was a beautiful soul and a fiery spark full of love, faith, grit, and determination. Marie moved from NC to NY with her mother shortly after I was born, so I was introduced to her through photos and letters my mother received from Marie or Aunt Florence, Marie’s mother. I remember as a 5 or 6-year-old, looking at her college graduation photos and being in awe of her beauty and inspired by her accomplishments. Marie and my mother had a special bond and she made occasional trips to NC during her early adulthood.  After Marie married Roland, together they made frequent trips to NC and those trips became more frequent, especially at Thanksgiving and birthday celebrations during my mother’s senior years. I am forever grateful for the unconditional love and compassion with which Marie generously showered my mom as well as for the interest, enthusiasm, and pride she had in my daughter’s growth, and accomplishments. A special thank you is extended to the caregivers at Isabelle Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Care and to Father Timothy Tighe for unyieldingly overseeing Marie’s wellbeing and care. The pain of Marie’s loss is excruciating, but the joy of having had her in my life will always be with me. As Winnie the Pooh stated, “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” Farewell my dear cousin, until we meet again. With Forever Love, Barbara
