Wendy was born on September 10, 1949 in New York to Sylvia and Ira Constad. Wendy had one sister, Jane Constad. Wendy was a lifelong New Yorker, with a career as an interior decorator. Her primary purpose was her devotion to helping others—most notably her daughter, but also her extended family and friends who became like family—as the ultimate caregiver.
Wendy is survived by her husband, Larry Steinhardt, her daughter, Jaime (Cole) and grandsons, Henry and Spencer Magrath.
Wendy’s life was defined by compassion, generosity, and love. Her fun-loving spirit, big heart, and selflessness will forever live on in the countless lives she touched.
She was at her happiest when entertaining and bringing her loved ones together. Her closest and most enduring friendships were formed during college, at her apartment building of over 40 years, and later on as a parent at Central Synagogue, The Hewitt School, and The Chapin School.
While an avid traveler who loved exploring the world, she was most at home in her beloved New York City thanks to its rich culture and convenience. Wendy always enjoyed shopping, seeing a Broadway show, going out to the movies, having lunch with friends, and precisely following recipes in her kitchen.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the nurses of NYU Langone. This request is made in honor of the supportive, caring staff whose dedication, positivity, and aptitude are truly awe-inspiring.
