William died at his New York City home on January 6, 2025. Bill was a successful project finance lawyer and Broadway and off-Broadway theater producer (Tony Award “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder”). Born in 1960 in Washington, DC, Bill moved to Manhattan in 1978 and participated widely in the cultural life of the city. He earned his law degree from UC Law (formerly UC Hastings) and completed his undergraduate degree and a Master’s in Journalism at Columbia University. Bill bravely confronted multiple health issues for many years. He is survived by his husband of eighteen years, George Calderaro, and sister Barbara Shelley of Savannah, Georgia He will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be held at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel, 1076 Madison Avenue on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 4-6 pm. Donations may be made in his name to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
