It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved “Bill” who left us too soon on November 6th, he had just turned 58.
Born in Manhattan on October 30th, 1967, to Nancy and Joseph Ryan. Bill was the youngest of 5 siblings. Bill was fortunate to grow up surrounded by loving grandparents and cousins. Bill had a strong work ethic and had a long career at Morgan Stanley. Bill enjoyed many friendships from Morgan Stanley and the New York Athletic Club, of which he was a lifetime member.
Bill will be remembered most for his generosity, integrity, empathetic ear and gentle manner. Bill’s perfect day would have included a run in Central Park, a swim at the Y, catching up with a friend, and a simple walk out with his beloved mother to grab a bite to eat.
His smile was warm, his eyes kind, and his heart big. Bill’s honesty, patience, and quiet sense of humor made him unforgettable. His loyalty to those he loved never wavered, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand.
Bill is survived by his mother, Nancy, and his siblings: Joe (Margaret), Tom (Rosemary), Susan (Kevin), and a brother-in-law, Mickey. He was predeceased by his father Joe and his beloved sister, Donna Bayard.
Bill was a steady influence in the lives of his 7 nieces: Caroline, Christina, Maggie, Claire, Courtney, Julia and Yelena, and 5 great nieces/nephews. Affectionately known as “Uncle Billy,” he loved each and everyone of his girls and was proud of each of them. He was an uncle they could always count on.
Most of all, he was an incredibly dedicated son to his mother, Nancy, and spent the last few years of his life giving her unwavering support and the best care imaginable.
He was a cherished friend to many who appreciated his warm nature, easy conversation, and thoughtfulness. Bill was especially fond of his mother’s caretaker, Carmen, who he developed a true friendship with over the years. Bill was an incredible brother who showed his love every day in both big and little ways.
His sudden and unexpected death came as a terrible shock – we all loved this great man. Bill was deeply loved, and our family will forever be blessed by his unconditional love for each of us.
