age of 90 ½ years old. Born in 1932 during challenging times in prewar Poland in the town of Skierniewice.
Zmira escaped the horrors of the Holocaust thanks to her father, Yakov Weinberg who moved the family
prior to World War II to what is now Israel.
Zmira was a member Emeritus of Oxford University and a former Head of Development for Mount Sinai
Hospital. Her legacy of service and spirit of volunteerism is far reaching. Mrs. Goodman had served on
the Board of Oxford University and its U.S. affiliate, Americans for Oxford, Emeritus Director, and
additionally served on committees and as Executive Director at the Center for Jewish History. In death,
she joins her husband, Anthony Goodman, who she met at Oxford and was happily married to for 52
years. After his passing in 2006, Zmira donated his complete body of work including papers, letters and
photographs to Oxford University. The vast collection includes his significant press coverage of the
Kennedy Assassination in Dallas, TX.
In life, she was full of energy and a passionate collector of art and literature. Zmira’s friends and dedicated
caregivers will remember her fondly and she is survived by three cousins residing abroad in Israel; Arie,
Yitzhak and Ruth Holtz, a cousin, Aliza in NY City and on Anthony’s side, cousin Malcolm Goodman who
resides in Leeds, UK.
