Anna Childs

Stojanka Anna Childs passed away at the age of 88 years old in the early morning hours of November 28, 2011. Anna was born on April 19, 1923 in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. She is survived by her sons, Mirko Ilich (Karen) of Valencia and Stephen Childs (Vicki) of Placerville, her grandchildren, Mark Childs of Madison, Wisconsin, Angela Ilich of Valencia and Tara Ilich of Palo Alto, as well as step-grandsons, Brock and Cody Walker. Her great granddaughters are Zoe and sadie Childs of Madison and Isabelle Owston of Valencia.

During WWII, she volunteered for the Red Cross in Belgrade and met her husband Victor Childs with whom she spent over 50 years living throughout Europe and England before moving to California in the 80's. He preceded her in death in 1997. Anna continued her volunteer service for many years in the Women's Unit at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. She was a resident of Friendly Valley community for over 13 years and loved her "happy little home", as she findly called it, and where she also enjoyed a close companionship with her dear friend, Joe Scifo.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Anna's life will be held Friday, December 9, 2011 at the Friendly Valley Community Church, 19246 Avenue of the Oaks, Newhall, CA 91321, phone (661)251-1311. The service will begin at 3:00pm.
