Barbara Joan (Pruss) McIlroy passed away on December 10, 2019 at the age of 87, in Palmdale, California. She was born in Houston, Texas on May 27, 1932; the eldest of three children born to Stanley Bruno and Helen Genevieve Pruss.
Barbara was raised in Santa Monica, California and attended Santa Monica High School where she was in a sorority and was a member of the tennis team. In her senior year, she attended and graduated from Kensington High School in Buffalo, New York. She eventually moved back to California where she met Kenneth C. McIlroy Jr at a dance and were later married on May 23, 1953. They were married for 38 years until his death on December 8, 1991.
She worked for over 30 years as a cosmetician for Sav-on Drug stores.
Barbara will be remembered as a dedicated wife as well as a loving and dedicated mother. She was a caring, compassionate person, who contributed to many charities. Her love of cooking, gardening, and animals will always be remembered fondly.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth C. McIlroy Jr, and son-in-law, Francisco R. Moisa. She is survived by her brother, Paul Pruss; sister-in-law, Dr. Leslie Williams-Pruss; sister, Dorothy Baptistia; daughters: Caryn Moisa, Kathleen Meadows, and Linda McIlroy. Grandchildren: Daniel Moisa, Christina Moisa-Banks, Anthony Banks, Megan Meadows and Jeffrey Meadows; great grandchildren: Marissa Moisa, Jonathan Moisa, Mario Ybarra, Christopher Banks, Julien Banks, and numerous nieces and nephews.
