My sympathy goes out to the family of Billy Joe.  I  was 2 years behind Billy Joe (and my brother), and one year ahead of Katie Jo.   I remember the games your mom cheered at and the summers I rode with Bill and my brother to a farm in "Bells Community" during the summer and worked during the tobacco harvesting.  We all remember the well anticipated lunch break, where the table was filled with unbelieveable country cooking.   I planned to go the last reunion with my brother specifically to see your father, whom I had not seen in over 50 years;  but, family took priority -- I had to attend a dance recital for a 4 y/o grandaughter.  I will always be sad that I did not get a chance see him and reminise about "the good ole days."

Bill and I grew up together aand graduated together in 1956 at Pittsboro High  school.  We learned to play guitar together  with chordes shown to us by Bills dad.. Have not seen Bill or Jo in many years but will always hold him close and remember all the great times we had through the 50,s. I was so sorry to learn of Billy Joe's death.  We were classmates and played football and basketball together through all four years.  As a senior I decided to play on the baseball team with him, and it was during one practice that he gave me my first, and only, chew of tobacco, telling me that a "Real Man" would love it.  It was SO bad that it made me sick and I went behind the bleachers and threw up!  That was my friend "Chub", and I will never forget him.

Sending sincere Condolences to Billy Joe's family. We were High School classmates in Pittsboro, NC where Billy Joe excelled in all of his endeavors and especially sports competition. I also grew up as a nearby neighbor of his wife Katie Jo. May you find Peace in remembering all of the Good Times!

Mr Nabes, What a giant of man with the LARGEST HEART. He will be missed, but what memories he left behind. Bunny Love baseball fields will never be the same. I can still hear his echoe in my head everytime I go by there, (Boy you had better listen). Always willing to listen and give advice. Joette, Lynn, Mike, & Kim thank you all for sharing this wonderful man with us. Love you all.

I, too, have WONDERFUL memories of my favorite uncle.I remember sitting beside him while he strummed his guitar singing "Froggy Went A Courtin'--his wonderful hugs and knowing that if I needed "uncle" advice, all I had to do was  pick up the phone. I will miss him--and send blessings to my the Neighbors cousins and their families--like John H. said===we live too far apart.

Uncle Bill was a force of nature, one of a kind.  My mind is flooded with memories of his huge smile, warm bear hugs, and wonderful singing and guitar playing.  When I was a little girl, he was my hero and my favorite uncle.  I am so sad to learn of his passing, and send my deepest condolences to my Neighbors cousins and their families.

as i sit here and compose this, i can't believe that he has gone..i do however have some great memories of the days we spent to gether last winter with him and duke..may he rest in peace

What a great guy and what a loss to us all.  My deepest sympathies and warmest regards to all the Neighbors Clan.  I so wish we didn't live so far apart.
