My two favorite memories of Boyd was when we met for dinner during September 2006 in Phoenix, Arizona for dinner, and then in July 2007 when Boyd, Christian, and I attended an Angels baseball game in Anahiem, California. Expressing my symphaty to the Veenstra family in the passing of Boyd. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of profound loss.

You have my deepest sympathy on the passing of your dad. I will miss our phone calls to catch up on family. We had a special bond over the years ,first with my parents,Ed & Pearl Brandt, and later us kids. Even though Boyd & Pearl were first cousin he was always close to us as we were closer in age. Also enjoyed our get togethers when he would come to Michigan. May God bless and comfort you.

Biography

Boyd Arlen Veenstra was born on August 4, 1938, in Holland, Michigan. His parents were Peter & Margarite Veenstra. He attended Grand Rapids HighSchool and Graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Michigan State University. Boyd worked in the Insurance Business for many years until he started his own Litigation Firm specializing in Various Fields with Expert Witnesses. He was a successful Insurance Expert Witness and Litigator. Boyd had a love for the Law, Insurance, Politics, Business, Education, and Finance! He influenced many people in all different fields and was always kind, supportive, and willing to help. Boyd loved his family very much, especially his grandkids! He was married to Linda in 1972. They celebrated 40 years of marriage before she passed in 2012. Boyd had two children, Shawna and Christian. He was very proud of both of his kids' accomplishments and was always supportive of their decisions. Boyd had four grandkids, Dylann, Clayton, Lauren, and Juliet. They were the highlights of his later years. Boyd loved anything sports and would buy season tickets to almost every sporting event so he could take his kids or his friends to games. He could be found coaching his kids' little league teams or sitting on the sidelines of his grandkid's sporting events.

Boyd looked forward to church on Sundays and participating in the various groups the church offered. He also loved to play his monthly card games with his friends. He loved to socialize and always kept in contact with a phone call or card. He loved to be around people, play pranks, or just share a cold beer! Boyd had a positive outlook, always!  All who knew him would agree that Boyd was a pillar of the community. He lived his life with his feet firmly on the ground. He had a strong work ethic, was pragmatic in his thoughts and acts, and constantly sought the means for self-improvement. He was willing to share his ideas and knowledge for the benefit of others so that they could accomplish more in their lives. Boyd Arlen Veenstra did his best to ensure that his family, friends, loved ones, co-workers, and everyone whose life he touched was given the chance to become a better person. He joined his wife on her birthday in Heaven on October 23, 2020. He will be missed by many and will always be in our hearts.
