On June 9, 2025, Carolyn (Carol) Jean Krum Lagasse, took her Lord, Jesus’ hand and after waiting on Earth for 97 years, she followed Him to the heavenly home that He had lovingly prepared for her.
Her earthly body was interred at Eternal Valley Memorial Park next to her husband of 48 years, Francis (Frenchy) Joseph Lagasse and near to her eldest daughter, Nanette Fae Lagasse Gaither, both who preceded her in death.
In a simple gravesite “Celebration of Life”, close friends and immediate family honored their love and memories of her.
Carolyn is survived by her two remaining daughters, Laurette Lea Lagasse Freel (Samuel) of Rockledge, Florida; and Suzette Yvonne Lagasse Roderick (Tim) of Lake Hughes, California; and by son-in-law, Kennith Gordon Gaither of Prescott Valley, Arizona. She was known by the name of “Mamo” by her 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
During Carolyn’s earthly life, wherever she and her family resided, she was involved in numerous community, spiritual, and political organizations and events. Her love for “preserving history” led her and her family to restore the California Historical Site of Mentryville and Felton School House in Pico Canyon, Newhall, California. For almost 30 years, she hosted many tours and functions of her beloved home. Visitors from “all walks of life” found that they were welcomed to her “Big House” with her Texas charm and grace.
After losing her home to the 1994 Northridge earthquake, she and her husband located “up north” to the Las Padres National Park Estates of Lebec, California, where they continued to be very active in their old and new communities.
Her husband’s untimely and sudden death in 1996, while on vacation with friends in Quartzsite, Arizona, broke Carolyn’s heart. She was eventually able to continue her historical preservation activities to help endure her grief over her loss.
One of Carolyn’s greatest earthly passions was caring for her flowers and orchards. She said the “she felt closer to God” when she was outdoors and enjoying His awesome Creation.
The family of Carolyn wishes to express to the many people who were touched by her life, to please remember all of the wonderful and special interactions with our parents, Frenchy and Carol and the selflessness that they gave of themselves to their acquaintances, family, friends, and communities.
First, Carolyn was (and IS) God’s Child. Then she was wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wonderful friend to those around her. Please remember her with honor and love.
