

Edward Arthur Zimmerman, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Henry Mayo Memorial Hospital in Newhall. Ed was born February 13, 1927 in Fresno, California and after moving to Vallejo, California, joined the United States Navy in 1944, serving aboard the Destroyer Sigorney (DD643) and was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1946.
In 1946, Ed married Jean Wang in Chicago, Illinois, and the couple moved to California in 1953. He attended college in the San Fernando Valley and became a certified Professional Engineer. Ed was a quality control engineer and consultant in the aerospace industry for over 30 years, retiring from work completely in 1991.
Ed was an avid pilot and after receiving his private pilot’s license flew to Canada and various locations throughout the US for 25 years. He enjoyed taking pictures and was constantly capturing family and travel scenes with his photography equipment or video camera. He could also fix just about anything.
Ed’s humor was well known. He was very friendly, had a quick wit, enjoyed people and always had a smile.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jean; daughter Beverly; son Richard; grandchildren Kim, Jess, Debby, Bob, Paul, Nathan and 7 great grandchildren. There are no words to express how we will miss him warm smile, wonderful humor, hugs and kisses.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, March 20, 2010 – 1:00 P.M. at the Friendly Valley Community Church, 19246 Avenue of the Oaks, Newhall.
Honors will be provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard.
