I have known Mr Isong through his daughter Elsie for several years now. He was a humble, peaceful, compassionate, and kind man. He was a father who did his best to ease the burden of those he loved. He will be greatly missed by all. May His gentle soul rest in perfect peace. May the Lord comfort and strengthen his entire family, friends, and all who have known him closely for many years in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen!

TRIBUTE TO DADDY ESIN NELSON ISONG.

Writing a tribute is not always a pleasant thing to do, so it's with mixed feelings I pen down this short tribute.It was such a rude shock when after exchanging the normal pleasantries.... asking after daddy and mummy and heard the normal "he is fine", only for Ekaette to tell me that"daddy had gone home".
We had wished you crossed over at the good old age of a hundred (100), but then 91 isn't a bad one especially when one has made peace with his Maker... for *precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his Saints*...Psalm 116:15.
You were such a loving and caring father who know nothing about tribe or nation.We will forever miss you.
Sleep on, until the Resurrection morning.

I was deeply saddened to hear of your Daddy's demise, he was a good man that I greatly admired. He left a rock engraved legacy of love, understanding, discernment, and wisdom. The death of one such as he would always leave a rather deep and painful sense of loss in the heart of his or her family and loved ones, however long such may have lived. I pray his loving family and loved ones find the fortitude to bear this great heart throbbing loss. May his soul rest peacefully in the perfect bosom of our dear Lord. Take heart, it is well!

Tribute to a loving father.

Dear Daddy,

This is one of the hardest tasks I have had to do as nothing prepares you for the transitioning of a loved one.

In the last few months when you became unwell, I prayed and trusted for a miracle. The news came as a shock. At first, I refused to let go. A few days later, it dawned on me that I had to let you go and then came the grief and pain. It was pain from the loss of a dream. A dream to be able to spend more time with you; to nourish and pamper you. The dream of you meeting Danny and Dee in person and to be a part of more celebrations in my life. I am going to miss your Tuesday phone calls, the birthday and Christmas day calls. You always showed interest in details of my life, asking questions and offering counsel. You were what I would call a ‘present father’.

I know you are listening, so I want to use this opportunity to say thank you for the care, nourishment and provision you provided as an earthly father. I’ve always told you I love you and I want to say again ‘I love you’ and to thank God for the privilege of being your daughter. I thank God for the time he allowed you to have with us. You played your part well as a caretaker of the gift God entrusted to you. I believe in your heart; you handed over your caring role to God knowing that he would take good care of the ones you left behind. I am comforted that I still have a father; a heavenly father who has promised never to leave or forsake us.

I rejoice in the knowledge that you have stepped into a more glorious future; your ‘season of glory’. Rest in the sweet presence of the Lord, where there will be no more pain; for God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away (Revelation 21:4).

Dearest Edith, when my dear dad passed away thirty five years ago after a brief illness, I asked God “why?” Then God asked me if I would rather be the one dead
So Ufan, though it is always heartbreaking to bid farewell to  beloved Daddy, be consoled that God called Daddy Isong first at the ripe age of 91.  Be consoled by the numerous cherished memories you shared with him. Be consoled by the loving daddy-daughter experience. Be consoled that God enabled you to stand by him till the end. Be consoled that daddy will be fondly remembered by the many lives he impacted. Be consoled that daddy’s life’s story included precious moments with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Be consoled that his life is a testament to God’s faithfulness. Be consoled that Pa Isong is now resting peacefully in the loving arms of his Creator. Be consoled that his absence from the body means he is present with the Lord Jesus. (2 Corinthians 5:8). Finally, be consoled that you’ll one day see daddy again. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).

When I think about your Dad, I remember his constant kindness, gentleness and welcoming nature towards me and everyone he encountered. He was a man of wisdom, a man of grace and a man of dignity. I will miss his presence and sense of humor that always shown in my interactions with him. Thank you for sharing your Dad with all of us, our lives have been enriched because of it. May God usher him into eternal peace and may God’s grace and love embrace you all during this trying time.

Pa Isong,
I cannot believe that you are gone. The last time that I saw you back in May, you were looking strong and I believed that it was just a matter of time before you would be discharged. Little did I know that would be the last time that I would see you. 
You lived a quiet and exemplary life. You were a loving father, grandfather and great-grand father. You would always call to check up on my children and I. You would call on every Mother’s Day and would always have Christmas presents ready for the children and I. You babysat my children occasionally on school holidays when I had nowhere to leave them and I had to work.
I will always remain grateful for the kindness and love that you showed to my family. 
You will be greatly missed. Rest in perfect peace.

We never physically met Pa Isong but we have been privileged to know Elsie who is one of the gentlest persons we've ever known. We are grateful that he raised and nurtured such a beautiful soul. We know he was a good father and if we were on the phone to her on a Tuesday and she said she had another call coming in, we knew immediately it was "Daddy". He called her every Tuesday: we admired his consistency. We are grateful for the long and fruitful life he lived; so blessed to see three generations after him. Most of all we thank God that Pa Isong got to know and serve the Lord he has gone to be with. 

My grandpa...was the best grandpa a girl could ever ask for. He was a man of God, intelligent, but most of all... he was kind. His kindness to others is what made him incredibly special and something I always took to heart. 

I had the opportunity to know Mr Isong (dad) through his wonderful daughter Edith my friend, who has been his rock since he moved to the U S. I pray that the Almighty God receive his gentle soul.  May he rest in peace in the bossom of the Lord, Amen!
