Ethel Gloria Schwartzman Nakutin, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 10, 2021 at her home in Valencia, California. She was 80 years old. Born May 24, 1941 in Los Angeles, California she was the daughter of the late Seymour and Beatrice Golden.
After more than 20 years working in newspapers, Ethel retired in 2003 from The Signal newspaper in Santa Clarita, CA. She began her tenure at The Signal in 1988 as Advertising Director before being promoted to Publisher in 2001. During her time at The Signal, Ethel was passionately involved with several local charities including the Boys and Girls Club, The SCV Senior Center and the Child and Family Center.
Ethel was devoted to her family and her beloved UCLA Bruins. Many Saturdays were spent watching her favorite team play football at the Rose Bowl. She was accompanied to the games by her late husband Larry or, one of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons Stuart (Lori) Nakutin, Steve (Janis) Nakutin, grandchildren Katie Nakutin (Spencer Lane), Sarah (Chris) Baxter, Ryan Nakutin, and Emily Nakutin.
A memorial service was held at Salt Creek Grille on September 21 where friends and family gathered to celebrate her life. Ethel will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Eternal Valley Memorial Park.
