Gerald was born on February 25, 1965 to James and Nancy Kent. He was a “jack of all trades”, working as a computer programmer, race car driver, mechanic, race official, bagel chef, and poker dealer - to name a few. He was a lifelong supporter of motorsports, practically being raised at Saugus Speedway. He had a passion for Texas Hold’em Poker and was welcomed at many card games around the Santa Clarita Valley. He was a regular at the Moose Lodge, participating in community fundraisers and charity events. Through these connections, he formed life-long friendships with many.
“G” will be remembered for his quick wit, tireless work ethic, and warm heart. His charismatic aura made him a favorite at parties and events. Once you knew him, he had your back - through thick and thin. He made good on his commitments and would drop everything at a moment’s notice to help out those worthy enough to be called friends. He was kind, gracious, and humble.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 2:00pm at the Santa Clarita Moose Lodge. All are welcome to attend. His remains will be scattered at a private ceremony for close family and friends.
Gerald is preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Kent; father, James Kent; sister, Jennifer Smith; aunt, Fern Pomeroy; and uncle, Eugene Lamoreaux.
He is survived by his brother-in-law, Danny Smith; nephew, Andrew (Victoria) Smith; niece, Kaylee Smith; uncles, Dennis Kent, George Lamoreaux, and Charles (Dorie) Lamoreaux; aunt Stephanie (Russ) Hansen; cousins Terry Ann Dobbs, Christine Lamoreaux, Charles (Catherine) Lamoreaux Jr., David Kent, Kathie Gomes, Russ Hansen, Michelle Zarate, and Cori Shackleton; numerous cousins once removed; his chosen family John Weidner and Diana Nessa; and countless close friends.
