Beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather passed away peacefully at home in Santa Clarita, California surrounded by his family on May 18, 2014. He was 82 years old. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri on February 18, 1932. Bob’s high school years were spent at the McCallie boarding school in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Upon graduation, he was accepted at Princeton University, where he graduated with High Honors (Magna Cum Laude) in 1953.
He also studied medicine at Emory Medical School in Atlanta, Georgia and attended Stanford Graduate School of Business. In the 1950's Bob moved to Los Angeles where he went on to become the National Sales Manager at Disneyland/Buena Vista Records. Bob married the “love of his life”, Delores Anderson of Michigan, on July 23, 1960. They moved from Hollywood to Pasadena, where they lived for 40 years and raised three sons. In 1969, he was recruited by Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss as National Sales Director for their newly created pre-recorded tape sales division at A&M Records. He was early member of the National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM) and was well respected and admired within the music industry.In 1977 he wrote, directed and produced “HALLOWEEN HORRORS” the highest selling Halloween album of all time. After retirement, he was active in a variety of numismatic organizations & lineage societies including The Orders & Medals Society of America (OMSA), where he served as President for 8 years. OMSA saw significant growth during his tenure. He also joined and helped lead numerous Genealogical Societies including The General Society of Colonial Wars (Honorary Governor General), Sons of the American Revolution, The Military Order of Foreign Wars (Past State Commander), General Society of the War of 1812 (Past State President), Aztec Club of 1847, and many more. He also wrote regarding Orders & Medals for the World Book encyclopedia, and co-authored the book, AMERICAN SOCIETY MEDALS. In July 2010, Bob and Delores celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He was a brilliant man, and a great husband, excellent father and grandfather.He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Sandy; his son, John; and his son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Laura; as well as 5 grandchildren (Suzanne, Jennifer, Kathryn, William II and Vila). Funeral Service will be conducted by his longtime friend, Dr. Gary Alan Dickey, at Eternal Valley Mortuary in Newhall, CA. on Tuesday, May 27th at 2pm in Eternal Valley’s Chapel of the Oaks.
Entombment will follow at the Eternal Valley Memorial Park Mausoleum. Followed by a Reception.
