Jennifer Lynn Hanigan, 55, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. She was born August 25, 1968, the fourth child of Dan and Joan Hanigan. She had a kind heart and gentle soul and will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
From an early age, Jennifer showed sparks of determination. Wide eyed and a bounce in her step, Jennifer would board the early morning bus for Lokrantz Special Education Center. Most afternoons she would come home leaning on the bus window sound asleep. But one very special day, she came bounding off the bus wide eyed and said, “I can read!” Inside she read her first book with so much energy and pride. She would persevere and go on to graduate from Old Orchard Elementary School, Placerita Junior High School, and William S. Hart High School.
Jennifer's journey had its challenges. During those times, she was humble, courageous, trusting, and grateful. Her journey also had its triumphs. In those moments, she was selfless, caring, respectful and generous. As we say goodbye to Jennifer, we carry her spirit of resilience and perseverance within us. Her story serves as a reminder that our circumstances do not define us; it is our response to them that shapes our character and ultimately determines our destiny.
Jennifer's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to be a part of her incredible journey. She will be deeply missed by family, friends and caregivers. Her memory will live on in her parents Dan and Joan Hanigan; sisters Mary (Hanigan) Hallman, Cathy (Hanigan) Salovich, and Carolyn Hanigan; eight nieces and nephews. Jennifer is preceded in death by her brother Jim Hanigan, who will be welcoming her with open arms at the gates of Heaven.
The funeral mass in Jennifer’s honor will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Saint Keteri Tekakwitha Catholic Church at 22508 Copper Hill Drive, Santa Clarita, CA. Following the funeral mass, a celebratory reception will take place from 3:00 – 5:30 pm at Old Orchard Association 1 Club House at 25051 Avenida Rotella, Valencia, CA.
