Joanne Virant

Joanne Marie Virant – age 62, went home to be with Jesus on Friday October 16, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on February 2, 1953 in Arleta, CA. Joanne was employed by GTE/Verizon for over 33 years, where she had originally started out as an operator. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend, always putting others before herself. She had the most generous, kind and loving heart that touched many lives with her presence. Her family and friends will always be thankful for the gift that was her life.

Joanne especially enjoyed spending time with her two grandchildren and was fond of travels with her friends. She was a member of NorthPark Community Church in Santa Clarita. She was a proud member of the Tea Party and served as Chairwoman of membership for the Santa Clarita Republican Women Federated. She was a gun enthusiast and an active member of the NRA.

Joanne loved nature from an early age, and enjoyed photographing flowers and gardening her beautiful yard. She especially enjoyed vacationing in the beautiful mountains of Montana, often for weeks at a time, where she developed life-long relationships and with friends she referred to as her “Montana Family.” She was so proud of her country and to be an American, and her travels often brought her to great landmarks throughout the United States.

Joanne is preceded in death by her parents Emily and Edward Virant, as well as her brother Eddie and baby sister Diane Virant. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Andrew Figueroa; her son Robert Rodriguez; her grandchildren Jacob and Brooklyn Rodriguez; sisters and brother-in-law, Kathy Reid, Theresa Virant, Marianne and Will Cintron; and her brother and sister-in-law, John and Karen Virant.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 31, 2015 at 10am with viewing services on Friday October 30, 2015 from 4pm to 8pm.

Services will be held at Eternal Valley Memorial Park, 23287 N. Sierra Highway, Newhall, CA 91321.
