Mr. Christie was one of those few people you meet in a lifetime who have a profound influence on the nature and essence of our professional and personal lives.  He was a paragon to those who worked for and with him. He was a wise man -- an inspiring and challenging teacher, honest, frank, and fair. He regularly praised and thanked employees for their work, always championing them and giving credit where credit is due.  To those of us who worked directly with him, he was a true leader whom we followed with alacrity and yearned to emulate.

Mr. Christie was an unstinting patriot.  In addition to his military service, in business he worked on many untold and unsung projects that protected and strengthened our nation, undoubtedly resulting in many saved lives.

On a personal level, John was the person I admired and respected most in my life other than my father.  He affected me positively many ways in my career, but especially in my personal life. He was my nonpareil and my mentor.  I can still see the twinkle in his eyes and hear the chuckle in his voice during those lighter moments. I cherish those memories.

God rest the soul of Mr. Christie.

We were fortunate to have spent some time visiting and dining with John and Jan, along with their son Mark.  We enjoyed those get-togethers immensely.  There was a warm, comfortable feeling in the air as the day would fly by in a moment.  His calming spirit and energy will always be felt and remembered.  Our deepest love and sympathy to all the Christie family.

John Christie was a volunteer Tax Aide and counselor with the Legal Aid program at the Senior Service Council, Escondido for many years.  His dedication and kindness was an inspiration to our clients and to other volunteers.  He is very sorely missed.

Through our close friendship with Scott and Debbie we were privileged to have met Mr. Christie a few years ago at Thanksgiving with the Christie family, it became an annual tradition, something we really looked forward to. The Tuffey family will miss you.

I remember Mr. Christie telling me a story about how he knew Mrs. Christie was the right girl for him.  He said "we could be quiet together".  That there was comfortable silence between them and they could just be together.  Not always have to talk, just undertand each other and be comfortable.  I always remembered that story even though he must have told me it over 25 years ago.  So Mrs. Christie, there is quiet time between you now, but he is with you.  I was a pleasure to know Mr. Christie.  Our sincerest sympathy to you and your family.
