Joyce Dwanda Collins was born on Dec 8, 1960. She was the first child born to Robert Clark, Sr. and Willa Mae Collins. Joyce was born in Washington DC and had one sibling, her younger sister Gail. Joyce and Gail enjoyed a short childhood time in DC, and then in 1967 the family moved to San Diego CA, where her father was stationed in the army. In San Diego, her younger brother Robert Collins Jr. was born. The family enjoyed the beautiful city and sunny weather! From San Diego, the Collins family moved to the San Fernando Valley. This is where Joyce spent her growing up years, attending Pacoima Elementary, Maclay Middle and San Fernando High School. It was during this time that Joyce met her best friends. They have remained close until this day. After High School, Joyce moved to Lake View Terrace and began her 30 year career with the LA County Office of Family and Child Services. She met a host of new friends and co-workers. She truly enjoyed her job working with and helping families and children in need. In 19xx, Joyce lost her sister Gail. Unselfishly, Joyce sold her condo and moved back home to support her parents in their grief. “Auntie Joyce” loved her niece and nephews, and promptly took an active role in raising them when her parents passed away. Joyce enjoyed going to the casino, and loved to go to Karaoke. Her favorite singer was Tee a Marie and she would always listen to her music. God called Joyce home on June 23, 2017. She leaves behind her brother, Robert Collins, her niece, Nashey, and her nephews Christopher and James. Joyce also leaves to mourn her passing, her family in Washington DC; grandmother, Ethel Harris; aunts and uncles, Mildred
Townsend and Janice Wilson, Luis Harris and Wayne Harris. And a host of cousins and friends who loved her! All who knew her will miss Joyce’s gentle spirit, melodic laugh, fun personality and unique sense of humor.
