Joyce was born on October 5, 1929 in Stockville, NE and resided in Colorado and Santa Monica, CA before moving to the Santa Clarita Valley in 1965. She owned several businesses in the SCV including the AAA towing service, Auto Repair facility and several apartment complexes. Joyce was a Realtor with Bell Realty for many years and owned a commercial peach orchard in the Antelope Valley. Formerly married to the late Bill Armstrong and Joe Whiteside, she had recently married Harry Bell. She was involved in the Elks Lodge and Zontas. Joyce served as Newhall's Honorary Mayor in 1976. For years, she volunteered her time for the Henry Mayo Hospital Guild Thrift Shop.
Joyce is survived by her two sons, Marvin Metcalf and Bill Cole; her five grandchildren; her sister, Lee Munden of Arizona and her brother Jack Schelles of Alabama.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 25, 2011 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 10:00 a.m., both at Eternal Valley Mortuary in Newhall. Arrangements under the direction of Eternal Valley Memorial Park Mortuary, Newhall, CA.
