Karon Ruth Hovey

August 13, 1938 – March 4, 2020
Obituary of Karon Ruth Hovey
IN THE CARE OF

Eternal Valley Memorial Park & Mortuary

Karon Hovey was born on August 13, 1938 in Austin, Minnesota. At the age of 2, her parents moved to California. During the war, her father got a job as a welder working on war ships and settled in Long Beach, CA for a period of time. While living in Long Beach, Karon attended a church camp and developed a desire to accept Christ as her Savior. She shared this desire with her father and he lead her to the Lord.

In 1950, the family moved to El Segundo, CA where they bought a home. In 1956, Karon graduated from El Segundo High School and enrolled in school at BIOLA (Bible Institute of Los Angeles). During the summer of 1957, she attended an "Inspiration Sing" after the evening church for this event. After the event, cookies and punch were served. Karon lined up behind Dennis and she began talking to him. During the conversation, her youth leader came up and invited her to go with a group to the beach where they were going to have a campfire and sing some more gospel songs. She declined because she realized most of the people going were going as couples. Seizing on the opportunity, Dennis told her that he would go with her and she took him up on the offer. Little did she know, that one year later on May 1, 1958, she would end up marrying him.

They were married for almost 62 years and have 3 children: Ruth, Dan, and David, and 12 grandchildren. Karon, along with her husband, have faithfully attended Grace Community Church for 50 years.

Karon was diagnosed with cancer seven years ago and succumbed, at age 81, Wednesday March 4th at 10:45pm, peacefully at home with her family around her. We praise the Lord knowing she is in heaven and we will see her again.
