Kevin Robert Diem was born on May 19, 1958, in Punta Gorda, Venezuela, where his father worked as an engineer for an American company. Kevin’s early years were spent in Venezuela, Trinidad, West Indies, before his family returned to the United States in 1974, settling in the Newhall area north of Los Angeles.
Kevin graduated from Hart High School and went on to earn a B.S. in Engineering from California State University, Northridge. After graduating, he began his career at the Department of Water and Power (DWP) in Los Angeles, where he became a respected engineer overseeing many of the city’s major electrical projects. Kevin retired from DWP in 2018 after a successful and fulfilling career.
Though Kevin lived in several places over the years, he was determined to make a permanent home in the Santa Clarita Valley. It was there that he met his soulmate, Robin, and together they built a life full of love, laughter, and adventure. They were happily married for 42 years.
Kevin was a man who treasured the friendships he made, especially those from his high school days, and he remained close to many of those friends throughout his life. Above all, Kevin cherished time spent with his family. His greatest joy came from being surrounded by loved ones, and he had a unique gift for making people laugh—even at the most ordinary moments.
Kevin was a devoted father to his daughter Amber of Santa Clarita, and his son Ryan of Arlington, Tennessee. He was also a proud grandfather to six beautiful grandchildren: Andrew, Archer, Braxon, Renley, Maven, and Lenna.
He is survived by his beloved wife Robin, his daughter Amber and son-in-law Austin, his son Ryan and daughter-in-law Rachel, as well as his loving sisters, Lynnette and Nancy, and his brothers-in-law Tim McHargue and Bobby Lancaster. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Anne and Bob Diem.
Kevin’s generosity, kind spirit, and infectious sense of humor left a lasting impact on all who knew him. While we will miss him deeply, we will carry his memory in our hearts, forever grateful for the joy and laughter he brought into our lives.
A graveside service for Kevin will be held Saturday, December 14,
2024, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, at Eternal Valley Memorial Park
Mortuary, 23287 North Sierra Hwy, Newhall, CA 91321.
