Malkia Jini Rachell was born July 10, 1978, in Los Angeles California. She resided in Santa Clarita CA for 13 years, and worked for 17 years as a Receptionist for Frontier Toyota. Malkia attended Master’s College, now known as Masters University where she majored in music, art, and theater. While attending Master’s, she went on a mission trip to Paris France. This was always one of her dreams because she took French in high school and loved the culture. Music and singing was always been her passion growing up. In High School, she played the flute in the band. In Alabama, her family had a radio ministry which she was one of the co-hosts for the radio youth program. Malkia was a leader in organizing her family’s outreach ministry for music, plays, and special programs at the convalescent and retirement home. Her interest included opera, theater, musical plays, and community events. She performed in numerous plays; A Gathering of the First Ladies (portraying Hattie McDaniel), Hairspray, a Disney Spectacular, The Circle of Life, and the Music Man just to name a few.
In early 2015, Malkia was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. In 2016 she found out the Cancer has metastasized. Through her diagnosis, she did not let it control her positive outlook on life. Her inspiring words of encouragement and her determination gave us all hope to never give up. She was a true warrior both spiritually and physically despite being in pain. Her beautiful smile and the sound of her voice captivated everyone.
At Frontier Toyota, Malkia enjoyed her work. She considered her colleagues at Frontier as family. Malkia's faith was important to her and she loved attending Castaic Community Church. Malkia was an avid reader and film enthusiast with an extensive book and movie collection. Malkia’s hobbies included various sports. Her favorite teams were the Raiders and Lakers and she enjoyed many basketball games at the Staples Center. She adored Marilyn Monroe and had a collection of photos of her in her home. She enjoyed knitting scarves for her family and friends. Malkia lived life to the fullest, she was very outspoken and stood firmly for what she believed in and she loved the Lord.
Malkia is survived by her mother Linda (Lynn), five sisters, and two brothers Adimika, Kamili, Nadra, Jaslynn, James, Josiah, and Jedidah. Her niece Raeylnn and five nephews, Robert, Noah, Nathan, Rivers, and Kayden. Two brothers-in-laws Derick and Tom. Grandmothers Murriel Rachell and Queen Easter Brooks. A host of loving Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. She has many loving friends. Malkia is proceeded in death by her father the late James C. Rachell.
