Jane was born in Southern California and spent the majority of her life in the Santa Clarita Valley. After graduating from Hart High School in 1962 she married Bill Blenker, and together they went on to have 3 children, Shellie, Jamie and Robb.
After being a stay-at-home mom for over a decade, Jane started her career at Weyerhaeuser Mortgage where she worked in various departments, ultimately becoming a supervisor in the insurance department. To the disappointment of many of her coworkers, Jane left Weyerhaeuser after more than fifteen years to pursue an opportunity at State Farm Insurance where she worked in the Claims Department.
But it was her desire to help others that prompted her to leave State Farm to help care for her mother in Santa Paula. Several years later, her sister would join them. While living in Santa Paula, she and her mother attended the First Christian Church, where she volunteered services, helping them with their financial records. Jane stayed in Santa Paula until her mother’s death in 2008.
Shortly thereafter, Jane bought a condominium in the gated community of Friendly Valley which is where she spent her “Golden Years”. Among other interests, Jane enjoyed walking around the community, as this gave her the opportunity to meet her neighbors and other residents of the community. Although she had never served this capacity before, she decided to run, and was elected to serve as secretary of the homeowner’s board. During her four-year tenure, Jane advocated for her fellow residents and recommended and facilitated new ideas.
While in Friendly Valley, Jane also volunteered at the Methodist Church where she helped to prepare sacraments, organize events and make care kits for those in need at the homeless shelter. More recently, she volunteered at the Santa Clarita Valley Food Bank where she prepared and distributed food to those in need. Both of these volunteer opportunities would fulfill ger desire to help others.
Jane treasured her children and embraced every moment she had with them. She also enjoyed traveling. Among others, trips with the family including visiting several states and numerous outings to the snow and various beaches in southern California and Hawaii. She also traveled with friends and was always happy when sitting in front of a slot machine, sometimes until the wee hours of the morning.
Other interests and hobbies included playing cards, games, gardening and taking walks.
Jane passed away at Antelope Valley Hospital on January 4, 2021 at the age of 76 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
