Monica Gabrielle Hernani Johnson, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away on March 9, 2025, at the age of 65. Born in Arequipa, Peru, on December 15, 1959, Monica’s life was shaped by her deep faith and unwavering service and love to others. She moved to the United States at age 18, studied at BYU, and served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Houston, Texas. After returning to BYU, she met and married Edward Johnson, with whom she raised six children. A devoted mother and compassionate soul, Monica dedicated her life to nurturing others—through heartfelt friendships, opening her home to anyone in need, and years of loving service in the church, especially in the Nursery with young children. She was known for her warmth, faithfulness, and quiet strength. Monica spent her final years in Santa Clarita, surrounded by family.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Johnson; her children Christian (Alondra), Michael, Jacob, Spencer (Hannah), Jonathan, and Jenna; and six grandchildren, with one more on the way. Her legacy of unconditional love lives on in all who knew her.
