Nancy passed away on Friday December 29, 2023 at the age of 75. She had been suffering from Parkinson’s Disease. Nancy was born in Pennsylvania before moving to California with her family. She attended Canoga Park High School and Pierce College, where she met her husband of 55 years, Richard Hammond. She was an administrative assistant at various employers, but in 1980, she began her favorite job working with Richard at his business, “Good Stats”. There, Nancy started her own typesetting business “Type Too.” They worked together until closing the businesses in 2002. Nancy went on to work in the Admissions office at the California Institute of the Arts where she was beloved by both students and staff. She retired in 2019.
Nancy and Richard have a daughter, Jocelyn and three grandsons. She was a wonderful wife and mother, but her favorite role was as a grandmother. “Nanny”, as she was affectionately known, had an unrelenting love for her family, especially the “grands,” and took great pleasure in spending as much time as she could with them. Her friends and coworkers looked forward to the daily updates on her grandsons. She was immensely proud of all of their accomplishments.
Nancy was very active, both physically and within the community, as she often participated in various community events and was a Special Olympics coach for over ten years. She was a great lover of teddy bears, film and visits with her best friends from over the years.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Richard, daughter Jocelyn, son-in-law Vic, and grandsons John and Robert. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Brian (18).
A private memorial was held.
