Norma was born January 12, 1945, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Milo and Florence LeLaCheur. They moved to California in the early 50’s. She was the middle child and had an older sister Tricia and a younger sister Mary (Tennessee), and they remained close throughout their life.
Norma suffered with polio as a young child which left her with a physical disability that she overcame with grace, the help of her parents and Norma’s’ strong determination and ingenuity.
She graduated from John H Francis Polytechnic High School in Sun Valley, CA in 1963 where she met her future husband, Frank Gonzalez. While their marriage didn’t last forever, Norma and Frank remained close until the day she died. As co-parents, they raised their two children, Rochelle & Renee.
She went on to study business and became a Legal Assistant and worked for several law firms until she was hired on with Kaiser Permanente. She retired in 2018, just shy of her 40th year. Norma loved the work she did and the people she worked with. She had a heart for working with people struggling with addiction.
Norma met & married the love of her life, LeRoy Kirk in 1970 and together they blended a beautiful family. Myra Kay, Cathy, Rochelle, Renee and Nicole.
Norma’s family was the highlight of her life and she enjoyed spending time with each one of them and loved large family gatherings. She was very proud of her daughters and their families. She was adept in many crafts including ceramics, cross-stitch, and decorating. She had also been a collector of Precious Moments and knew the verse on every one of them. She loved learning about history through reading, watching television or on her many trips stateside and she loved long walks on the beach and listening to her gospel and country music. A war, history and cowboy movie lover you could often find her watching a good movie while nibbling on candy or spooning up her favorite ice cream.
Norma was an exceptionally beautiful, kind, caring, unselfish & generous woman with a heart of gold and anyone who had the pleasure of meeting her will remember her beautiful smile, her sparkling bright blue eyes, and her happy attitude towards life.
