It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter M. Weber, a resident of Santa Clarita, California. Peter passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Peter was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to Barton and Blanche Weber. He was a graduate of Ephrata High School and, immediately following graduation, proudly served in the United States Navy for four years. He was honorably discharged in 1969 and remained in the Los Angeles area.
Peter went on to earn an Associate in Arts degree from Los Angeles City College and continued his education to become a Registered Nurse. He worked at two Los Angeles hospitals before retiring from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he became affectionately known as "Papa Pete." He was well loved by his coworkers, and even after retirement, he continued to be invited to their gatherings, which he especially enjoyed.
Peter had a gift for making friends wherever he went. He was an avid supporter of high school sports, especially when his sons were playing football. During those years, he formed friendships with a group who called themselves the 50-yard-line folks." Even after his sons graduated, Peter continued attending high school football, basketball, and softball games.
His loyalty and kindness extended far beyond his own family. He became close with the family of a local athlete, Ally, and followed her sports journey all the way to Stanford, where he would drive to watch her softball games, That was Peter: loyal, supportive, and always present for the people he cared about. He also formed lasting friendships while playing bingo in Las Vegas and enjoyed joining friends from Northern California at tournaments.
Peter is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Perla; his sons, Kenneth and Shawn; his daughter-in-law, Jaimie; his grandchildren, Hanson and Markey; his younger brother, Timothy Weber, and Timothy's wife, Kay Weber; and his nieces and nephews, Ben and his wife, Suzanne, Elizabeth, Thomas, and Matthew.
Peter will be remembered for his warmth, loyalty, humor, and his remarkable ability to make friends wherever life took him. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
